Becoming a massage therapist and energy practitioner were two of the best decisions that I have ever made. After 15 years of trying to convince myself that the corporate world was the best way to go, I accepted the fact that that wasn’t my truth and made the decision to follow my heart and calling. I received my 1st and 2nd degree reiki certifications in November of 2016, and March of 2017. I followed with my license in massage therapy in December of 2017.
Massage therapy and bodywork for me is not only about relieving aches and pains or simple relaxation. This is what most people think of when massage is suggested. Yes, massage does help with these things, however, my work is deeper than the tangible aspect. Understanding how everyday stressors affect the body in ways that many are unaware of, I intentionally work with the nervous system and listen to the queues of the body. Contrary to popular belief, “no pain no gain” is a common misconception when it comes to massage. I don’t work with that approach. Beating muscles into submission keeps the nervous system on high alert, can cause muscles to guard even more, and is counterproductive. Relaxing, yet effective is what I aim for. Any deep tissue work is gradual, not forceful, and is meant to be as painless as possible for you and myself. My ultimate goal for you during any massage session is to address your concerns while simultaneously creating a safe space for you to relax. I prefer not to talk much during your massage. This is your time to relax. I’m open for a little conversation, but please keep in mind that when I am engaged in conversation, my attention is divided. I want you to have the best experience.
